F&F movies put pedal to the metal

Tempting the fates.

What would you expect from a macho movie series about cars and racing?

The eighth installment of the “The Fast and the Furious” saga, “The Fate of the Furious” hits movie theaters April 14 with Vin Diesel back as Dominic Toretto, along with Michelle Rodriguez (Letty), Tyrese Gibson (Roman), Chris “Ludacris” Bridges (Tej), Dwayne Johnson (Hobbs) and Elsa Pataky (Elena).

The movie also will feature Oscar winner Charlize Theron as a mysterious woman who pulls Dom into “the world of crime he can’t seem to escape and a betrayal of those closest to him.”

Despite the ominous-sounding title and plot, most of the characters apparently will survive at least long enough to do two more movies – that’s right, 10 movies to complete the saga.

Our infographic looks back at the series, the cars, the characters and the action that have helped make it a multi-billion-dollar franchise – with Entertainment Weekly’s ranking of the seven movies to date – and peeks ahead at what fans can expect.
